The regatta is dedicated to the memory of Zoran Radosavljevic, a passionate sailor and fighter pilots elite 127th squadron of Yugoslav Air Force, who lost his life while protecting the airspace of his homeland on 26th March 1999.
Zoran Radosavljevic was a passionate sailor and founder of JK Polaris. At one time, he dreamed to organize a an event, where would bring together all sailors from this region. In that way he wanted to improve the sailing, and get it closer to the place that that sport was in the world. Unfortunately, life was overtaken him. After his death in September 1999. sailors from JK Polaris and JK Lamar Belgrade started maintaining the memorial sailing regattas, which bears his name – Zoki’s regatta. The first years the regatta was held at the Montenegrin coast, and from 2009. is being held in Belgrade.
The name of Zoran Radosavljevic today bears the main street in Batajnica, sailing club in Niš, which was founded by his friend Dejan Milosavljevic, and the largest regatta which is held every first week of September on the Montenegrin coast, and now in Belgrade. World Serbian community declared him to Serbian knighted for outstanding merits made for an overall good of the Serbian people.
